Disc bulge

The disc is a cartilage type material between the vertebrae of the spine.  The disc play a connective and cushioning role for the spine.  Faulty movement/posture or traumatic injury can lead to degeneration of the disc and in some circumstances lead to an inflammatory reaction.  With severe degeneration discs can bulge or become inflamed irritating the surrounding structures.  In the lumbar spine this is often associated with nerves which contribute to the sciatic nerve.  By reducing muscular spasm we can reduced pressure on the disc.  This can aid in the reduction of inflammation around the disc.

Flexion/Distraction is a special machine we use which gently takes pressure off the disc and restores motion thus reducing inflammation.

If you suspect a disc bulge this is gentle approach to help restore motion.
